Project, a California Arts Council-funded initiative managed by the Upstate Creative Corps (Nevada County Arts Council) and brought to Butte County by The Friends of The Arts. M.A.T.S.U. stands for Making Art Together Supporting Unity.

The project aimed to raise awareness in Butte County about the role of all art disciplines in public health and recovery from natural disasters, such as the 2018 Campfire in Paradise, California, and the COVID-19 pandemic. M.A.T.S.U. participants directly experienced the guidance of a professional artist, who provided scaffolding for self-expression through literacy, poetry, drawing, painting, sculpting, music creation, voice acting, animation, and filmmaking. This film documents the inspiring and healing outcomes that arise from the intersection of public health and diverse artistic practices. Enjoy! B
