Billy Strings: A New Generation of Bluegrass Pioneers

billy Strings (born William Apostol; October 3, 1992) is an American bluegrass musician. He has won a Grammy Award and released four albums, all of which have been critically acclaimed. He is known for his virtuosic guitar playing and his ability to blend traditional bluegrass with other genres, such as rock, folk, and country.

Strings was born in Lansing, Michigan, and grew up in Muir, Michigan. His father died of a heroin overdose when he was two years old, and his mother remarried Terry Barber, an accomplished amateur bluegrass musician. Strings regards Barber as his father.

Strings began playing guitar at the age of 12, and he quickly developed a reputation as a prodigy. He moved to Nashville in 2016, and he quickly became one of the most popular bluegrass musicians in the city.
